Home Remodeling Plans
By Jayme Hanson

Before you start your home remodeling plans, do a little research and figure out what you need to do in advance to make the project as smooth as possible. You and your contractor (if you decide to hire someone to implement your home remodeling plans) will save time and money by this effort.

Whether you are going to do the home remodeling plans yourself or you are going to hire a contractor, you will need to decide how much dust, noise and commotion you are willing to put up with during the remodeling. If the remodeling job is a small one and won’t disrupt the whole household, than you will probably be able to live in your house during the process. If your home remodeling plans include a large project such as the kitchen or your only bathroom, then you might want to consider relocating until the project is completed.

If your home remodeling plans include a kitchen remodel, then you will need to take off everything in the cabinets, on the counters and on the walls. You can box everything up and store it in another room. You could also move the refrigerator to a temporary location such as the dining room, garage or even the basement. For a major remodeling project, everything in the room that is being remodeled will need to be moved to another location.

The

materials that you have for your home remodeling plans will need to be stored in an area that is dry. The garage usually is an ideal place to store your remodeling material because it is dry and also will prevent your material from being stolen. If you absolutely can not store your material in the garage, than store the material outside on elevated blocks to keep it off the ground an decrease the amount of moisture that comes in contact with the material.

Dust is another major factor in your home remodeling plans . If you have never been involved in a major remodeling project than you have no idea how much dust is going to be generated during the process. Even with the best dust control measures in place, dust is going to seep into the rest of your house. For homeowners with asthma or allergies, excess dust may not only be bothersome, but also health-threatening. Use tools that have vacuum bags attached to the power tools and spend a little extra time each day vacuuming after the work has stopped for the day to reduce the amount of dust that gets spread through your house.

Home remodeling plans can cause a great deal of stress and confusion, but taking a few extra steps planning and implementing safeguards can make remodeling project successful.
